Technology and STEAM Showcase at Battlefield High School
Grab your video recording device loaded with iMovie, a stop motion app, and/or a green screen app and head over to the Annual Technology & STEAM Showcase.
Growing exponentially in size over the last few years, this event has quickly become the largest STEAM gathering in Prince William County. Demonstrators present opportunities for students, parents, teachers, and the community to see how West End PWCS students integrate technology and use STEAM to solve challenges using the Engineering Design Process.
STEAM is the emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Demonstrations will be presented by levels Pre-K through 5th grade as well as Encore and Specialists. Warning: You and your family may experience sensory overload. Every corner of the event is alive with activity. Experience robotic demonstrations in the gym. If your lucky, you may catch a t-shirt shot from the cannon. Hands-on activities will be available and include Bitsboard, Makey Makey, Chroma Key (aka: green screen), Internet safety, coding, 3D creating, architectural design, circuit boards/cubes, digital animation, and more.
Earn Girl Scout STEAM Badges
Last year’s introduction of Girl Scout badges was met with overwhelming response. All pre-registered participation spots (such as the escape room) filled up quickly. But don’t let that detour you. There are plenty of badges available to earn. Just check in to the Girl Scout table at the front entry and pick up a flyer for badges to be earned.
Even though the event is free, bring a little lolly for smoothies, food trucks, and snacks. Most importantly, have fun!
