One of the most open and beautiful settings on the Potomac, Saylor Grove Fishing Pier is perfectly situated across the river from Mt. Vernon. Access to the river is free and provided to the public by the Accokeek Foundation.
Bait can be purchased from inside the foundation’s gift shop during park hours listed below. If you are fishing, be sure to follow local licensing requirements. If you’d like to adventure beyond the pier, you can arrange for a kayaking excursion (third party) or even bring your own boats. Kayak carts are loaned out on a first come first serve basis with a refundable deposit. Shaded picnic tables are by the dock for when you’re ready to break from the sun. There are walking trails to explore in and around the park if you’re up for a casual hike. Just over an hour’s drive from Haymarket, you’ll want to plan your trip around traffic patterns.
